18 years ago Gene started a sales division called Central Valley Commodities (CVC) with the goal to service their customers better. In the past, shavings had been bought from saw mills and sold to barns through commodities traders. These traders then had to rely on contract trucking firms to pick up and deliver the product.

Husband and Wife team Gene and LeeAnn Hull started hauling wood shavings purchased from the sawmills by commodity brokers who hired trucking outfits to deliver their product.
After almost 10 years in the industry Gene expanded their trucking business to four units and noticed there was a market to sell shavings direct to the consumer.
By 1998 Gene Hull Trucking expanded operations to 13 units and formed Central Valley Commodities (CVC Shavings) to be the sales division of their parent company.
By 2007 Gene Hull Trucking Inc. has a fleet of 20 Tractors and Sub Haulers hauling shavings in 40 sets of double trailers throughout California and the entire west coast.
